Common Trezor Login Issues (and How to Fix Them)

✅ 1. Trezor Not Recognized or Detected

Symptoms:

  • Device not showing in Trezor Suite

  • Error: “Connect your Trezor” (when it's already plugged in)

Fixes:

  • 🔌 Use the original USB cable or try a different one

  • 🔄 Restart your computer and reconnect the device

  • 🌐 Use a different USB port (avoid USB hubs)

  • 🔥 Make sure Trezor Bridge is installed and running (required for browser access)

  • 🖥️ Try a different browser (Chrome or Firefox recommended)

  • 🧩 Disable browser extensions that may interfere (like ad-blockers, antivirus, or privacy tools)

✅ 2. Stuck on “Loading” or Blank Screen

Symptoms:

  • Trezor Suite or Web app hangs during loading

  • No PIN or passphrase prompt appears

Fixes:

  • Clear your browser cache and cookies

  • Reboot your computer

  • Try accessing via:

  • Use Incognito/Private Mode to rule out plugin conflicts

  • Make sure firmware is up to date (Suite will guide you)

✅ 3. PIN or Passphrase Not Accepted

Symptoms:

  • Incorrect PIN or passphrase error even when you’re sure it’s right

Fixes:

  • Double-check the PIN layout on your device screen (it’s randomized!)

  • If using a passphrase, remember it is case-sensitive and creates a separate wallet

    • Forgot your passphrase? Unfortunately, it cannot be recovered.

  • Try accessing the device without entering a passphrase to access the base wallet

✅ 4. Trezor Not Working with MetaMask

Symptoms:

  • Trezor doesn’t show accounts in MetaMask

  • Connection freezes or fails

Fixes:

  • Use MetaMask + Trezor only in Chrome or Firefox

  • Make sure Trezor Suite is closed when using MetaMask (to avoid device conflicts)

  • Update MetaMask and Trezor Bridge

  • Reconnect via:
MetaMask > Settings > Advanced > Reset Account
    Then:
    Connect Hardware Wallet > Trezor

✅ 5. Firmware Update Loop or Fails

Symptoms:

  • Constant prompt to update firmware

  • Update fails or device reboots endlessly

Fixes:

  • Use Trezor Suite desktop app (not web) for firmware updates

  • If stuck:

    • Hold both buttons while connecting the device to enter bootloader mode

    • Retry the update process

  • Disconnect all other USB devices to avoid power issues

✅ 6. Error: “Udev Rules Not Installed” (Linux only)

Fix:

  • Install Trezor’s udev rules:

    bash
    sudo apt install -y trezor-udev

    Or manually from: https://trezor.io/start

✅ 7. Trezor Suite Says "Device Already Used"

Fixes:

  • This usually means the device is initialized but not wiped.

  • If it’s your device and you want to reset:

    • Go to Settings > Device > Wipe Device

  • Otherwise, just re-enter your PIN and passphrase to continue.

🧼 Bonus Tips

  • Keep Trezor Suite and firmware updated

  • Only download from the official site: https://trezor.io

  • Consider disabling antivirus temporarily if it blocks the device

  • Never enter your seed phrase online – if asked, it's a scam
